The 2025 COTE® Top Ten program is in its 28th year and highlights projects that meet the AIA Committee on the Environment's rigorous criteria for social, economic, and ecological value.
One June 5, 2025 the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy And Society in Hanover, NH was announced as one of the recipients of the COTE Top Ten Award during the AIA Awards Gala in Boston.
At Dartmouth College, the Irving Institute for Energy and Society embodies the university's low-carbon future with a high-performance addition to a 1970s structure. The building integrates cutting-edge systems and renovation strategies to model sustainable transformation on historic campuses. The building’s high-performance features accomplish more than a campus precedent for energy use; human-centric design elements, including the extensive use of natural ventilation and daylighting, enrich occupant well-being and actively engage users in energy conservation.
Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this extraordinary project, and to all the other award-winning teams!
