The "Open Urban Design Ideas Competition - Weißenhof 2027" has been decided.
First prize was awarded to the consortium Schmutz & Partner with Scala and Pfrommer + Roeder.
Organized by the state of Baden-Württemberg and its capital Stuttgart in cooperation with the International Building Exhibition 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart (IBA'27), the competition examined the urban planning framework for an extension of the Academy of Fine Arts as well as the conversion and renovation of the church Brenzkirche and a new reception and visitor center to be built at the entrance to the listed ensemble. This is to be completed by 2027 and will serve as a central contact point for the IBA'27.
In addition, a wartime gap in the middle of the world-famous settlement offers space for experimental building.
