After advising in 2013, Transsolar is invited to Uganda again to measure thermal loads and assess effectiveness of previously proposed strategies to improve conditions in buildings at three teaching colleges under ENABEL formerly the Belgium Development Agency.
Nadir Abdessemed as project leader of the project in 2013 asked the TS Academy fellow Achilles Ahimbisibwe to travel with him. They visited the sites to evaluate how the implementation process has been handled by the architects, contractors and building managers.
Despite some operational challenges, it was noticed that the proposed passive strategies were improving user comfort in the spaces where students live and learn.
The surface and space measurements now provide experiential data that shall be used to further improve ventilation and thermal insulation in the buildings for the next construction phase at these colleges.
