Kaleidoscopic Pragmatism, Christou Lada 3, Athens
In collaboration with DECA Architecture and ehret + klein Greece, Transsolar is currently working to improve indoor daylighting and visual comfort for a seven-story building in the densely built-up area of downtown Athens.
Most buildings there are up to 10 stories high, and the narrow street gorges act like canyons, preventing views and severely limiting access to daylight.
The unusual solution we are working on intensively is a system of a heliostat and mirrors, a kaleidoscope in a shaft, which directs sunlight to the affected floors in a targeted and well-distributed manner.
